The Breakfast Club of Canada set up an emergency fund March 20th, 2020 to support community organizations committed to help food-insecure families and children across the country during the COVID-19 outbreak.
The Breakfast Club of Canada provides breakfast for about 250,000 students in almost 2,000 schools every year. Now, with classrooms closed because of the corona crisis, the Club needs to raise $5 million. By reallocating funds from schools to high-risk regions, along with donations from Canadian corporations and individuals, the Club will be able to help the more than 1 million children and youth across the country affected by food insecurity.
“Right now, we need to do everything we can to honour the pledge we made to children 25 years ago and make sure they get the nutrition they need to grow up healthy. We have built a strong network over time and we will be putting it to work now for their benefit.” - Daniel Germain, Breakfast Club of Canada president & founder
More than $900,000 has already been donated by companies such as belairdirect, Intact insurance, Danone, Kellogg Canada and National Bank. Individuals can donate through the Club’s website or by texting CLUB to 20222.
